KINTSUGI HOPE
Emotional health and wellbeing is being talked about more than ever, and we are all being encouraged to talk more openly about our mental struggles and to seek support.
If you have felt overwhelmed due to an area of mental or emotional wellbeing, we would like to invite you to join a Kintsugi Hope Wellbeing Group in Ulverston. You may not have heard of Kintsugi Hope so we would like to take this opportunity to introduce it to you.
Meaning
'Kintsugi' (金継ぎ) is a Japanese technique for repairing pottery with seams of gold. The word means 'golden joinery' in Japanese. This repairs the brokenness in a way that makes the object more beautiful, and even more unique than it was prior to being broken. Instead of hiding the scars it makes a feature of them.
A Kintsugi Hope Wellbeing Group is a safe and supportive space:
-
for people who feel or have felt overwhelmed.
-
providing tools for self-management.
-
in a facilitated peer mentoring style setting.
Issues covered include; disappointment, loss, anxiety, anger perfectionism, depression, shame and resilience.

The latest statistics suggest that around half a million more people in the UK may experience a mental health difficultly over the next year as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. There is no shame in admitting that you struggle at times and there should certainly be no judgement. Everyone has struggled at some point!
The brave ones speak up, allow themselves to be vulnerable, and in response others do likewise. Kintsugi groups are an answer to some of the common issues many people in our communities face regarding their emotional and mental wellbeing.
